What is CNC Carving Machine’s Stepping Motor Pulse Subdivision? What is the Subdivision? Is that the Higher Subdivision, the Better Precision?
Most People misunderstood that the higher stepper motor pulse subdivision, the higher precision. Obviously that this is incorrect. Such as some drivers can be 60000 pulse per round but the stepper motor is not able to distinguish such precision actually. When the driver pulse subdivision is set to be 6000 pulse per round, the stepper motor will receive hundreds of pulse for one step. The precision cant be improved by this way. The higher motor pulse subdivision, the harder controlling of the precision.
The stepping motor pulse subdivision is a kind of electronic damping technology actually which main purpose is to ease or eliminate the stepper motor vibration under low frequency and improving the stepper motor rotating accuracy is only an additional function. The stepping angle of the stepping motor with pulse subdivided is a friction of the initial stepping angle. Such as the initial stepping angle of two phase stepper motor is 1.8°. It means for one pulse the motor will rotate 1.8°. So if without pulse subdivided, it will need 200 pulse to rotate 360°, a round. The pulse subdivision is realized by precisionly controlling the current of each phase through the motor driver which has no relationship with the stepper motor. If the subdivision is 10, it means for 1 pulse the motor will rotate 0.18°. It will need 2000 pulse to rotate 360°, a round. If the stepping angle can reach or nearly to be 0.18° is determined by the phase current controlling precision of the driver and other factors. The phase current controlling precision is with big difference among various brand drivers.
In real application, the pulse subdivision can be set lower in occasion that we want higher rotating speed and lower stability&precision. If the rotate speed is slow, The Higher pulse subdivision shall be set in order to ensure smoothly and to ease motor vibration and noise.
